11/11/20 – Grab and Go Meals – Dear Monticello Parent/Guardian- During the next two weeks of online learning, the Food Service Department will be offering a FREE ‘Grab and Go’ breakfast & lunch for Monticello students. They will be “Grab & Go” which means we will be handing them out to people outside of the building. On Monday, 2 meals will be provided for Monday & Tuesday. On Wednesdays, you can pick up 3 meals for Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday. The only pickup location will be at the back entrance of Shannon Elementary between 11:00–11:30 am on Mondays and Wednesdays from Nov. 16-Nov. 23. These will start on Monday, November 16. Please email judy.hayen@monticello.k12.ia.us by Noon on Friday, Nov. 13 if you would like to receive the meals so we can get an approximate count. Lunches for today (11/11) are the normal Wednesday ‘grab and go’ lunch (pickup at the main entrance of Shannon Elementary between 11:00–11:30 am). 9/11/2020 Free Lunches for All Students – Dear Monticello Parents/Guardians -We have been notified by the USDA that effective Monday, September 14 that we will be allowed to serve breakfast and lunch to all students free. This will last until the end of December or until the current funds that have been established for this program run out. This is a great opportunity for our community and it also helps ensure that our students are eating and ready to learn without the worry of money in their accounts. 9/8/2020 Lunch today & tomorrow – Just a reminder, we will be serving lunches today and tomorrow at Shannon Elementary. The Food Service Department will be offering a, ‘Grab and Go’ lunch today & tomorrow. The only lunch pickup location will be at the main entrance of Shannon Elementary between 11:00–11:30 am.
There are a few requirements to be able to pick up a, ‘Grab and Go’ lunch:
- Lunches will only be available for children enrolled in the Monticello School District.
- The child will be charged a lunch to their existing lunch account. This will be the same as the normal daily lunch plan.
- If your child receives a free or reduced lunch, they will be charged accordingly.
- Parents can pick up the lunches for their children and adult lunches will be available for parents at a cost of $4.00.
- There will not be space to eat lunch at the school. These lunches will be ‘Grab and Go’.

8/7/2020 Lunch on Wednesdays for 2020-21 School Year – On Wednesdays during the 2020-2021 school year, the Monticello Community School District will be offering online learning only for students. Even though online learning is done from home we would still like to give our students the opportunity to eat a school lunch. The Food Service Department will be offering a, ‘Grab and Go’ lunch for Monticello students every Wednesday. The only lunch pickup location will be at the main entrance of Shannon Elementary between 11:00–11:30 am (Wednesdays Only).
