Would you like to be notified directly when classes or events are canceled or in emergency situations?
Sign up for Iowa School Alerts, a FREE email and/or text message notification service provided by the State of Iowa. We have been a participant in the Iowa School Alerts program for the last couple of years, which means you can sign up to receive free e-mail notifications when classes and events for our district, or a particular school building, are to be closed, dismissed early or started late due to weather or other circumstances, including emergency situations.
Go to https://schoolalerts.iowa.gov to get signed up!
This is the ONLY alert system that we use to notify staff and parents.
After signing up you will receive email notifications directly from the school whenever classes are canceled, delayed, emergency information, etc. You can review your alert settings and all current notifications for the state at any time by visiting the Iowa School Alerts website: https://schoolalerts.iowa.gov
There is no charge to sign up for Iowa School Alerts, however you are responsible for any fees charged by your wireless provider for receiving messages. If you do have trouble receiving the notices, please contact Iowa School Alerts directly, not the school district.
This information will also be on our website and facebook page. This is separate from any alerts you may receive from the TV stations, KCRG, KGAN, KWWL, etc.
Additional: Weather Information – Cancellations and early closing information will be given on the following TV stations: KCRG TV -Channel 9; KWWL-TV-Channel 7. The following radio stations will also carry school closing information: WMT (600 AM); KDST (99.3 FM); KHAK (98.1 FM); KMCH (94.7 FM). It will also be posted on our website and Facebook page. When delaying or cancelling classes we make a concerted effort to make a decision and inform School Alerts and the media before 6:30 AM. Unfortunately, this is not always possible, so continue monitoring your source of information until the students are in school.
