Dear Parents and Staff,
I am writing this email to inform you that we have been seeing hand, foot, and mouth disease in our schools and community over the last week. A few cases have been identified in every school building. As of now, there are less than ten cases in the schools districtwide. We have included the link to a fact sheet to better help you understand the symptoms and what precautions can be taken.

As with any illness, please keep your student home until they are fever-free without over-the-counter medication for 24 hours. With hand, foot, and mouth disease, they also need to stay home until all blisters are scabbed over. Please remember that good universal precautions such as regular hand washing and not sharing drinks with other people, will help limit the spread of this disease.
If you have any questions regarding this disease, please contact your health care provider. If you have any school health related questions, please contact the school nurse, Jodi Heinrich at jodi.heinrich@monticello.k12.ia.us.
Thank you!
Brian Jaeger
Superintendent
