Student Bulletin Tuesday, January 25 Day 1
Panther Tutoring will begin this coming Thursday, Jan. 27th, before school from 7-8am and after school from 3:15-4:15. Next week we will get back to the normal days of Monday, Tuesday, Thursday at those times. Any questions, see Mr. Schauf.
SODA is teaming with the American Heart Association to have an all school RED OUT next Tuesday, February 1st. So wear your read shirts next Tuesday to school and to the basketball games against Northeast that night.
WPA Dance is Friday, February 11th from 8-11 pm in the high school commons. Students may bring a student from another school district. Guests are to be in high school or not over the age of 20. No middle school students. You will need to get a guest dance permission form from the office if you are planning to bring someone from outside the district. Dance starts at 8 pm. Students will not be allowed in after 9pm.
Silver Service Opportunities:
We are hosting a Girls Basketball Tournament on Saturday, February 5th and Sunday, February 6th at the High School and New Middle School. We would love to have anyone who would be willing to help and would like to get in some hours. If you’d like to help, contact Kellie Arduser at kjarduser@gmail.com or 319-480-0454.

Juniors can explore a career through a summer internship by signing up here December 13th-February 9th. Students receive one elective credit for completing a 90-hour internship.
Seniors planning to attend college next year should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible. See Mrs. Stenger after completing it for a free pop-it!
Scholarships are beginning to be posted. They will be posted alphabetically by name of scholarship as we post them. When active, the scholarship name will be turned green. Go to the school’s website at www.monticello.k12.ia.us and go to the High School page. Click on the Counseling tab, then click on Scholarships on the right. Also check out the Counseling Announcement link for other counseling office information and other college and scholarship announcements.
Seniors – get your questions answered about the Hoover Uncommon Student Award by joining an upcoming Zoom session! This is for sophomores and juniors and their family members so they can hear about this exciting scholarship program. The Zoom session will cover who and what is the Hoover Presidential Foundation and the purpose of this program, eligibility requirements and when the application materials are due, and much more! The sessions are free and you can pick the session that fits your schedule: January 25th (11:30 am & 4 pm), January 26th (11:30 a.m, 4:00 pm, 6:00 pm) and January 27th (Noon, 3:00 pm, 5:00 pm). See Mrs Stenger or Mrs Dirks in the Counseling Office to sign up for a session meeting. American Legion Auxiliary Second District, IA Merit Award – Member. Applicants must be either a member of the American Legion Auxiliary or a daughter, granddaughter, great-granddaughter, sister, wife, son, grandson, great-grandson, brother, widow, husband or step relative of a WWI or WWII to present day Veteran. Must be or must plan to be enrolled in a school in the State of Iowa. Information and application can be found on the Scholarship web page linked from the HS Counseling website. Deadline is March 15, 2022.
Iowa National Guard Officers Auxiliary Scholarships – Applicants need to be dependent of a currently serving or retired Iowa National Guard service member. For more information and to apply, go to https://ingoaux.com/scholarships. Deadline is February 1, 2022.
Farm Bureau Scholarships: Iowa Farm Bureau & Jones County Farm Bureau – One of the benefits offered to Farm Bureau members is the opportunity for high school seniors to apply for Jones County and Iowa Farm Bureau Scholarships. Applicants must be a member of Farm Bureau to apply. The completed application, along with all required documents must be emailed in ONE email to the county of their membership. No printed applications will be accepted. This one form is all the applicant needs to fill out to be considered for both county and state scholarships. This is a renewable scholarship. Jack Recker Scholarship – Open to graduating seniors at Monticello High School who desire to pursue a 2- to 4- year college education in the agriculture field. Information and application can be found on the Scholarship web page linked from the HS Counseling website. Deadline is March 10, 2022.
Nate Dunn “Next Generation of Leaders” Scholarship – Applicant must be a Monticello graduating high school senior with a desired passion in leadership. Must have a minimum 3.25 GPA to apply. Essay required. Information and application can be found on the Scholarship web page linked from the HS Counseling website. Deadline is April 1, 2022.
Delaware Co Pork Producers Scholarship – Eligible students must be a high school senior who is a resident of Delaware County. Must be enrolling in a two or four year accredited college or university pursuing a career within the College of Ag or an agricultural related field. Must MAINTAIN a 2.75 GPA during the 1st semester of college. Information can be found on the Scholarship web page linked from the HS Counseling website. Deadline is March 15, 2022.
