Hello all,
I just want to give you an update on our COVID numbers for this week. We currently have 26 positive COVID cases K-12 (staff and students). That means we are down 11 cases from last week. We have about 17 cases (staff and students) that we are monitoring. That includes those in quarantine, waiting for COVID testing results, or out with COVID like symptoms. The number of staff and students we are monitoring has dropped 4 cases this week.
The Iowa Department of Public Health reports that Jones County has a 7-day positivity rate of 16%. That is up 7% from last week. The number of positive COVID cases in Jones County over the last 7 days is 84, and that is up 22 cases from last week.
Some mixed results again this week, in Jones County the numbers are rising and in the schools the numbers are dropping. Looking at the chart of COVID cases on the IDPH website, it looks like cases are trending down moving forward. Let’s hope that trend continues. If we combine COVID cases with cases we are monitoring, we have dropped from 5% to 3% of our staff and student population currently out for COVID related reasons. We will continue to monitor this on a case-by-case basis and look for additional ways to keep our staff and students safe each day.
That is it for this week, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
