Hello all,
I just want to update you about our COVID numbers for this week. We currently have 37 positive COVID cases K-12 (staff and students). That means we are up 22 cases from last week. We have about 21 cases (staff and students) that we are monitoring. That includes those in quarantine, waiting for COVID testing results, or out with COVID like symptoms. The number of staff and students we are monitoring has dropped 13 cases this week.
The Iowa Department of Public Health reports that Jones County has a 7-day positivity rate of 9%. That is down 6% from last week. The number of positive COVID cases in Jones County over the last 7 days is 62, and that is down 18 cases from last week.
Well in some ways our numbers have gotten better and in some ways they have gotten worse. Looking at the big picture, if we combine COVID cases with cases we are monitoring, there are about 5% of our staff and student population out for COVID related reasons. We will continue to monitor this on a case by case basis and look for additional ways to keep our staff and students safe each day.
That is it for this week, I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
