On Saturday, May 22 Monticello Scout Troop 66 will be planting approximately 8,500 sapling trees in a wooded area that was destroyed by the derecho. This project started out at 1,500 trees which is a doable amount. Now this project has evolved to a major task. We are looking for students who have a spade and a need for service hours. Adult leaders will be around and helping with the planting but self-transportation to the Martelle area is required. They will be leaving at 7:30 a.m. from the Monticello High School parking lot. Contact Kirk Freese at 319-480-0126.
