Starting the week of February 1st, the school staff will begin the first round of vaccinations. The second round will be 28 days after the initial shot. With any luck the staff vaccinations should be completed by Spring Break. I am not sure how or where the shots will be distributed but that information will be released soon.
Looking at our numbers this week, our positivity rate in Monticello is 8.8%. In Jones County, the positivity rate is 9.3%. Over the last 7 days, there have been 8 cases of COVID-19 in Monticello. The positivity rate numbers are down from last week and they are the best numbers we have had in months!
Our updated numbers for this week are as follows:
- We currently have approximately 10 students and 2 staff in isolation (these people have tested positive for COVID or are showing COVID symptoms) and approximately 12 students and zero staff in quarantine (these people have been exposed to someone with COVID-19, not necessarily at school). That is approximately 2% of our student body and less than 1% of our staff that is out for COVID-19 related reasons. These are really good numbers for both staff and students.
- We still have many students participating in online learning. As of today, we have approximately 111 PreK-12 students participating in full online learning or hybrid online learning. That is approximately 11% of our student body taking one or more online courses. This number has dropped by 44 students this week as students continue to return to in-person learning as we begin the second semester.
That is it for this week. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and please be safe!
