The Student Council would like to give Happy Grams to the elderly in Monticello. For the first 5-10 minutes of 1st Block tomorrow everyone will be given time to create a Happy Gram and send it to someone you know or to anyone who may NOT get a Holiday card this year. The Manufacturing Class is selling remote caddies. They come in three different stains: special walnut, tradition cherry, and early American. The remote caddies cost 10 dollars and if you would like to order contact Mr. Kremer. If you would like to see the remote caddy prototype go to Mrs. Kremer’s room.

Counselor’s Office News:
All students, especially seniors, should be checking out the Scholarship webpage. Scholarship season is starting and information and applications will begin to be posted. Past scholarship applications are listed to help you research the ones you want to apply for – look at the old applications to get an idea of how to answer questions and essays then watch for the updated application. Watch for deadlines and how to submit the applications. Also check out the Counseling Announcements for information on colleges, college visits and contacts plus other counseling information.
College representatives will be arranging virtual college visits with our school this year. See a list of the scheduled colleges and a link to the Zoom meeting by visiting here. More will be added as they schedule with us.
Iowa School Counselor Association Senior Scholarship – For 12th grade students attending an Iowa high school. Applicants must submit a 250 word (maximum) essay about a school counselor who made a difference during their K-12 career. Go to http://iaschoolcounselor.org/ISCAScholarship to fill out an application. Deadline is January 8, 2021
Iowa Automotive Dealers Foundation Scholarships – Applicants must be committed to pursuing automobile-related studies, such as technician training, body shop/collision repair, diesel, new vehicle sales, parts sales, accounting, or business administration. Information and application can be found on the Scholarship webpage linked from the MHS Counseling website. Deadline is March 1, 2021
ACACIA Leadership Scholarship- Iowa State University – Available to any male, graduating senior from an accredited high school who attends Iowa State University. Awarded to a senior who has demonstrated their ability to excel in the fields of academics, extra-curricular school and community involvement. Financial need is not a criterion. Information and application can be found on the Scholarship webpage linked from the HS Counseling website. Deadline is March 1, 2021
