It’s Speech Time!!!!
Don’t know what speech is? It’s a competition group for anyone interested in having fun, telling stories, acting out plays, or creating short films, TV news casts or Radio broadcasts. Check your graduating Google Classroom and there are videos there telling you all about Large Group and Individual Speech. Anyone interested in going out for speech needs to fill out the speech form located in the MHS Speech Google Classroom. You can join the classroom with this code: ej4pp53 or contact Mrs. Carlson or Ms. DeWitte.
Student Council will be hosting our annual Food/Toiletry Drive from December 1-18 this year. Our goal is to bring in 2,020 items so we can end this year on a positive note. The classroom competition will take place with your Day 2, Block 1 class. We have a variety of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes that we think we make giving worth your while. Let the competition begin!
Seniors: Turn in senior and baby pictures by email to Mrs. Woodhouse. The last day to turn one in is Dec. 18. Click the link below if you aren’t sure whether you have turned yours in yet.

Counselor’s Office News:
All students, especially seniors, should be checking out the Scholarship webpage. Scholarship season is starting and information and applications will begin to be posted. Past scholarship applications are listed to help you research the ones you want to apply for – look at the old applications to get an idea of how to answer questions and essays then watch for the updated application. Watch for deadlines and how to submit the applications. Also check out the Counseling Announcements for information on colleges, college visits and contacts plus other counseling information.
College representatives will be arranging virtual college visits with our school this year. See a list of the scheduled colleges and a link to the Zoom meeting by visiting here. More will be added as they schedule with us.
Grand Lodge of Iowa Masonic Scholarships – Applicant must be a graduating Iowa high school senior planning to pursue a post-secondary education in any state at an accredited 2-4 year institution. Criteria includes service to school and community with emphasis on leadership roles. Academic record, communication skills and financial need are considered. Information and application can be found on the Scholarship webpage linked from the High School Counseling page of the school’s website. Deadline is February 1, 2021

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program – This program honors America’s foremost young leaders who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship. Applicant must show strong academic performance and plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire 2021-2022 academic year.
