Due to moving to online learning, all school facilities will be closed to the community until Nov. 25.
The school picture retakes/makeups that were scheduled for all remaining MCSD students today have been postponed. We will notify parents/guardians/students once an alternate date has been set.
Student Council will be hosting our annual Food/Toiletry Drive from December 1-18 this year. Our goal is to bring in 2,020 items so we can end this year on a positive note. The classroom competition will take place with your Day 2, Block 1 class. We have a variety of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes that we think we make giving worth your while. Also, During the December 15 basketball game against the Anamosa Raiders, if you bring 4 items to this event, admission is free. Let the competition begin!

MinnTex Citrus is hiring for season help for the 2020 Fruit Packing Season.
Wages start at $17-$22/hr!
1st shift (8am – 4:30pm)
2nd shift (5pm to 9pm)
Packing begins after Thanksgiving and ends before Christmas. Minimum age is 16 years old.

From Pat Kelly, MCSD Food Service Director — During the next two weeks of online learning, the Food Service Department will be offering a FREE ‘Grab and Go’ breakfast & lunch for Monticello students. They will be “Grab & Go” which means we will be handing them out to people outside of the building. On Monday, 2 meals will be provided for Monday & Tuesday. On Wednesdays, you can pick up 3 meals for Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday.
The only pickup location will be at the back entrance of Shannon Elementary between 11:00–11:30 am on Mondays and Wednesdays from Nov. 16-Nov. 23.
These will start on Monday, November 16.
Please email judy.hayen@monticello.k12.ia.us by Noon on Friday, Nov. 13 if you would like to receive the meals so we can get an approximate count.

Counselor’s Office News:
All students, especially seniors, should be checking out the Scholarship webpage linked from the MHS Counseling website. Scholarship season is starting and information and applications will begin to be posted. Past scholarship applications are listed to help you research the ones you want to apply for – look at the old applications to get an idea of how to answer questions and essays then watch for the updated application. Watch for deadlines and how to submit the applications. Also check out the Counseling Announcements for information on colleges, college visits and contacts plus other counseling information.
College representatives will be arranging virtual college visits with our school this year. See a list of the scheduled colleges and a link to the Zoom meeting by visiting here. More will be added as they schedule with us.
Grand Lodge of Iowa Masonic Scholarships – Applicant must be a graduating Iowa high school senior planning to pursue a post-secondary education in any state at an accredited 2-4 year institution. Criteria includes service to school and community with emphasis on leadership roles. Academic record, communication skills and financial need are considered. GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program – This program honors America’s foremost young leaders who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship. Applicant must show strong academic performance and plans to enroll in a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited four-year college or university for the entire 2021-2022 academic year.
