I just wanted to give you an update on the next couple of months in regards to Inclement Weather, Online Learning, and Winter Sports. Please take a minute to watch my video.
Here are just a few of the highlights:
- Inclement Weather – When we have inclement weather this year it will be a little different. We will have the opportunity to call for an online learning day instead of a snow day or a no school day. We will still drive the roads, make the decision, have it broadcasted on our news channels and sent out via school messenger and then our students will participate in an online learning day just as they have every Wednesday this semester. This allows us to not extend our school year into June.
- Online Learning – We are at 9 weeks into the school year, this is a good point to do some reflection and ask yourself, talk to your child and your teacher to see if online learning is still best for you (if that is the option you chose). If you’d like to return to brick & mortar learning, please contact your building principal.
- Winter Sports – Some winter sports guidance just came out from the state. We will still be taking the precautions with students at practice (taking temperatures, good hygiene, hand washing, etc.) Fans will need to wear masks when attending any event. Players and coaches on the benches will also be wearing masks. All schools in our conference will follow this same guidance. Also, please remember at basketball games our gym gets pretty full, so please wear a mask and if you are worried about being shoulder to shoulder, this may be the year to stay home. We will provide the safest situation as possible. It is very important to us that our students get to participate in their athletic seasons.
Feel free to call or email me with any questions. Thank you for your support of the Monticello Community School District!
