The MHS February Students of the Month were nominated together by Sarah Domer-Sleep and are Juniors Kaitlin Guyer and Maci Welter! She nominated Kaitlin and Maci “for their hard work on making this year’s Dance Marathon a success. They went above and beyond in gathering sponsors and securing donations, as well as coming in on their off time to help plan. They are excellent leaders for our school and for our community.” Congratulations Kaitlin and Maci!!

Summer Driver’s Ed registration forms are available at the office drive up window. Registration deadline is Monday, March 2. Space may be limited. Applications will be considered on first come first served basis.
Student enterprise is selling spring plates, and your choices are:
1. White chocolate strawberries with crushed pretzels or sprinkles $6 per plate and eight strawberries are on each plate
2. A spring shaped rice krispy treats $9 per plate with 10 treats on a plate.

There will be a Mississippi Valley Regional Blood Center Blood Drive on Thursday, February 27 from 2-6 at the Berndes Center. To sign up, contact Leah Holub or online at www.bloodcenterimpact.org. Students can also sign up during 2nd lunch this week just look for a table.
Kirkwood is offering a Basic
Welding Metal class three-week series for ages 10-15 at the Kirkwood Jones

There will be a Girls Soccer sign up meeting today at 3:30 in the auditorium.
Monticello Nursing & Rehab Center is looking for part-time CNAs. They offer a shift during the week that is 5pm-9pm with a starting wage for CNAs of $13-$15/hour. They are also looking for part-time dietary aides to work the 5pm-8pm shift.

Community Service Opportunities:
Monticello Parks and Recreation is looking for students interested in silver service hours by coaching youth soccer this spring. It’s a great way to earn 20-30 hours! Contact Jacob Oswald at 319-465-4660 if interested.
TILT Together Parent Group is looking for high school students to volunteer to help with childcare during their meetings on Tuesday nights. Contact Lindsay Ryan at Lindsay.randolph.ryn@gmail.com if you are interested in service hours.

There are a limited number of spots for free Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) training this summer at JREC. See Mrs. Stenger if you are interested.
An ICAN representative will provide presentations to help students plan for the future March 3rd during Parent/Teacher Conferences in the library. The Career and College Planning presentation is at 5:30 pm and the Understanding Financial Aid presentation is at 6:30 pm. All students and parents are welcome to attend.

Sophomores are encouraged to sign up for the PreACT, a practice version of the ACT, with Mrs. Stenger by March 13th. The PreACT is free and will be administered the morning of March 24th.
Keith Dirks Memorial Scholarship – Friends of Jones County Conservation & Nature Center – One $500 scholarship will be awarded to one graduating senior from a Jones County high school who has indicated an interest in pursuing a post-secondary degree or certificate relating to science, technology, math or engineering and is a Jones County resident. David Greif Memorial Scholarship – LOCAL – Applicant must be a graduating senior planning on attending Kirkwood Community College. American Legion Auxiliary Merit Award – Member -Applicant must be member of or a relative of an American Legion Auxiliary member. See relative list on application. Paragon IT Professionals Scholarship – Applicant must be an Iowa high school graduating senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
