Student Bulletin Tuesday, November 19 Day 4
The Monticello High School Student Council will be hosting a Blood Drive on Thursday, November 21 from 10 AM to 2 PM at the Monticello Berndes Center.
SENIORS: Senior and baby photos are due DEC. 18 for yearbook. You can turn in to Mrs. Ralston or Mrs. Woodhouse. This is the Google doc listing who has turned in senior and baby pictures for yearbook.
If you haven’t taken a Kirkwood course yet and plan to next year, now is the time to apply. Some courses will require placement testing before February so plan ahead. Deadlines will be enforced. Go to www.kirkwood.edu/earncredit -> Apply to earn CCHS. After this is complete, be sure to activate your k number and password in the welcome letter. Academix will meet during WIN on Friday, November 22.
Aaron Horn from Delta V Code School will be presenting about careers in technology December 10th during WIN. If you are interested in a career in technology but aren’t sure which one is right for you, this is the perfect presentation to attend. See Mrs. Sconsa to sign up or for more information.
Community Service Opportunities:
We are looking for volunteers to work at the Thanksgiving Community Dinner this year. It will be at the Berndes Center and normal hours are from 10am to 2pm. Any student interested can call Bruce Feuling at 319-465-3219 and leave a message. You will need to bring your service record sheets with you to be signed.
If you would be interested in earning Silver Service Hours by providing childcare a few afternoons a month, from 3:30 to 4:30, at the Monticello High School, please see Mrs. Guyer. You can email her at shannon.guyer@monticello.k12.ia.us for more information.

November 22 – Hawkeye Community College rep will be in the commons during lunch shifts. Stop by to say hi and ask any questions you may have.

Burger King Scholars Program – Applicant must be a high school senior applying to a four-year accredited US college or university. Must have at least a 3.3 GPA and minimum ACT composite of 25. Must demonstrate an active leadership role in community service, athletics, and/or similar co-curricular activity, as well as substantial work experience. Online application only. Better Business Bureau Torch Awards for Ethics – Student of Integrity Award – A Student of Integrity is insightful, kind, fair-minded, unintimidating and ardent in their desire to make sound decisions. Applicant must be recommended by school official, one per school will be accepted. See other requirements and judging criteria. FFA Scholarships – Bodensteiner Implement & John Deere Program – Applicant must be a FFA member and planning to attend a two or four year college. Four-$2000 scholarships awarded. Application is online only at www.ffa.org/participate/grants-and-scholarships/scholarships . Deadline: January 15, 2020
ClaimAid Scholarship – Star Student of Iowa Scholarship – Applicant must be a special education graduating senior who plans on continuing their education at a college or university.
