The Fall weight room hours have changed. The new hours after school will be Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:00.

Juniors can sign up for the PSAT practice test for the SAT by seeing Mrs. Stenger and paying $17.00 by September 17th. Sophomores can test for practice. Students are responsible for transportation to JREC on the test date of October 16th.

Students interested in an automotive competition Tuesday, November 5th in Ankeny for prizes should talk to Mrs. Stenger for more information.
10th-12th grade students are invited to sign up for the ASVAB career test at the high school on Wednesday, September 18th at 8:00 am. Students wanting to practice for the ACT, military entrance exam, or have wonderful career exploration resources are encouraged to sign up with Mrs. Stenger by September 16th. Military recruiters will not have access to student scores or contact information. There will be an informational meeting during WIN Monday, September 9th in the auditorium.
High School Picture Day is Monday, September 16th.
Classes will not be held on Friday, September 20th for a Teacher Collaboration Day.

Homecoming week is Sept 23rd – 28th. Dress-Up Days are as follows: Monday is Color Wars Day – Staff-Black, Seniors-Maroon/Red, Juniors-Blue, Sophomores-White, Freshmen-Yellow, Tuesday is Jersey Day, Wednesday is Character Day, Thursday is Pajama Day, and Friday is Panther Pride Day.
The Homecoming Parade and Coronation will be held on Monday, Sept 23rd. Parade line up will start at 5:30 in the pool parking lot and the Parade will begin at 6:00 following the same route as last year. Coronation will be at the football field 6:30. If weather conditions are not favorable the coronation will be held in the High School Gymnasium at 6:30. The Junior/Senior Girls Powder Puff game will begin at 7:00.
Any junior or senior girl wishing to participate in the Powder Puff game on Monday, Sept 23rd needs to turn in a completed permission form to Mr. Lambert by Thursday, Sept 19th. Forms are available at the office drive-up window. Mouth guards are also required for anyone wishing to play, if you need one see Mr. Lambert.
On Friday, September 27th there will be a Homecoming Pep Rally at 2:45 in the High School gymnasium.
The Homecoming Court and their parents will be presented between the JV and Varsity football games on Friday, Sept 27th.
The Homecoming Dance will be on Saturday, September 28th in the High School commons from 8:00 pm to 11:00 pm. If you have invited a guest to the homecoming dance who is not currently a Monticello High School student, you must register your guest in the office by Fri, Sept 27th. There is a registration guest list to write your guest’s name on in the office. Dance Guest Registration forms are available at the office drive-up window.
Homecoming dance tickets will be sold during lunch Monday through Friday (September 23-27). The cost is $5/person.
Community Service Opportunities:
Sunday, Sept 15th and Sept 22nd — The fall softball league is looking for workers for concession stands and field prep help. Contact Lauri at 319-480-4026 if you’d like to earn silver service hours.
The football team is looking for someone to video tape the varsity football games this year. You will get silver service hours. If you are interested, see Coach Wilson ASAP.

Juniors and seniors can now sign up for a job shadow to learn more about a future career. Here is a video with more information about job shadows and internships. Students can apply for a job shadow here until Wednesday, September 18th.

Horatio Alger Association Scholarships – National & State: Applicant must be a graduating senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree at an accredited public or private institution. Must demonstrate financial need, be involved in school and community activities. Also based on academics and be a person who displays integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity.
