Shannon Elementary School

A Message from Mr. Folken:

I am happy to see that you have an interest in the Monticello Community School District. I would encourage you to visit our schools. You will find that we offer a safe and caring learning environment for our students.

At Shannon Elementary School, we have a rich educational environment for our preschool through first grade students:

The Little Panthers Preschool is a two-section inclusive preschool where three and four year olds (with and without special needs) learn side-by-side. Registration occurs annually during the month of March.

Kindergarten and first grade students are served through three multiage classrooms (kindergarten and first grade students together) or two kindergarten (kindergarten only) and two first grade (first graders only) classrooms. Each format uses the same curriculum and each format offers a wonderful kindergarten and first grade experience for our students.

Additional instructional supports include School Counseling, Academic Supplemental & Intensive Plans, Title I Reading, Special Education, and Extended Learning programs. We also have an active Parent Teacher Organization.
