Attention any Junior interested in being nominated for National Council on Youth Leadership (NCYL):   Criteria is as follows to be nominated – Must have been elected or appointed to 2 positions of leadership in school, community and/or religious activity in the last 2 years, never have been suspended for a co-curricular violation for drug or alcohol abuse within the last 2 years, and have a minimum GPA of 3.0.  There are posters around the school with nomination submission requirements.  Deadline is Tuesday, April 26th.  See Mrs. Young with any questions.

 

GRAND MARCH will be held in the high school auditorium on Saturday, April 23rd beginning at 5pm. Students should arrive prior to 4:45pm to get signed in. Doors will open at 4:15pm, all are welcome to attend. The post prom committee is asking for a free will donation of $1 per person.

 

Junior & Seniors:  If you have invited a guest to prom who is not a Monticello junior or senior, you must register your guest in the office.  There is a pad to write your guest’s name on.  Be sure to pick up a guest registration form.  Keep in mind that you may invite only one guest and your guests can not be a middle school student. Forms need returned to the office by Friday, April 22.  If you have an intermediate driver’s license and need a waiver to the driving hour restrictions, the form is available at the office drive-up window and must be signed by a parent and Mrs. Young prior to Friday, April 22.

 

During the month of April the PBIS team would like to reward good behavior. If your teacher catches you doing something good or going above and beyond in your classroom you may be awarded a Coffee Shack coupon. Hold on to your coupons so you can use them at the Coffee Shack after school on April 26. The coffee shack will have a variety of different drinks from hot chocolate to espressos to big trains. These coupons can only be used on April 26 after school.

 

Kirkwood’s mandatory academy orientation is Wednesday, April 20th.

 

 

 

 

Guidance Office News:

A representative from Upper Iowa will be in the guidance office on Thursday, April 21 at 8:30.

 

Nursing Schools Almanac is sponsoring their 2nd annual Aspiring Nurse Scholarship.  This is a $1000 scholarship to an aspiring nurse who best demonstrates a track record of academic excellence, particularly in science and math; and a passion for the nursing profession and the overall field of healthcare.  This is open to all seniors who plan to pursue a college education in nursing, including LPN/LVN, ADN and BSN programs.  Deadline is June 30, 2016.  Go to the school’s website’s Scholarship Information webpage for details on the application.
