All students registered to take Kirkwood Academy classes next year must attend a mandatory orientation meeting held tomorrow at Monticello HS.  Non-arts & Sciences meet at 6:00 pm then to JREC.  Arts/Science students 7-7:45 pm @ MHS.  A parent must attend as well.  If you cannot attend, contact Kirkwood.  Letters will be sent home with full details!

 

NCYL applications are due in the high school office on Tuesday, April 23rd at noon.

 

SODA will meet during WIN tomorrow.

 

Reminder, now that we do not have limited parking spaces due to snow, there is no need to park in the end caps. If you do, you will be receiving a ticket for parking there. Thank you.

Guidance News:

All Guidance Office announcements will be listed daily for about a week.  If you need to find a past announcement, search in your email for that week’s school announcement list.

 

All students, especially seniors and juniors should become familiar with the High School Counseling webpage on the District’s website.  Scholarships are being added to the National, State and Local Scholarship webpage and there are many scholarships on the site to look at which all will eventually be updated.  There are also links to other scholarship opportunities for all age groups, college rep visits, college visit days, military rep visits, and many other links to browse through.

Rotary/Dale L. Greenawald Scholarship & Rotary Business Scholarship – For the Greenwald Scholarship, any Monticello senior is eligible, but preference will be given to student planning on attending an accredited college and majoring in a music program.  For the Business Scholarship, applicant must be planning on attending an accredited college or university and majoring in business.  Same application. James Gordon Helgens Memorial Scholarship – Applicant must be a senior student pursuing post-secondary education. Application can be found on the 2019 Scholarship Application page linked from the MHS Counseling website.  Deadline:  April 18, 2019

Community Bankers of Iowa’s Leaders of Tomorrow (LOT) Scholarship – Applicant must work at, have a parent, grandparent, or guardian who works at a bank that is a member of the Community Bankers of Iowa.  Will be evaluated on character, academics, community involvement and essay content. Iowa Association for Energy Efficiency Scholarship – Applicant must submit letters that focus on interest, knowledge and desire to pursue energy efficiency. See information for all details on eligibility and documents needed.  Information and application can be found on the 2019 Scholarship Application webpage linked from the MHS Counseling website. Deadline:  April 26, 2019

Iowa PGA Charlie Burkart Scholarship – Applicant must be a high school senior who has had an interest and activity in golf and the potential for future contributions to the game.  Also based on academic ability and financial need. Application can be found on the 2019 Scholarship Application webpage linked from the MHS Counseling website.   Deadline:  June 14, 2019

Monticello Conservation League Scholarship – Applicant may be a senior whose parent or guardian is a current, active member of the Conservation League, but is not a requirement – all are encouraged to apply.  Essay required.
