Attention ALL Kirkwood Students – If you are not doing well in your high school classes, you need to be here for WIN.  Check the WIN list daily.

 

Students will be signing up for their choice of Winter Carnival activities during Block 2 today.   The form will be sent to students at about 9:30 am.  Be sure to have your Block 2 students make their selections.

 

SENIORS:  THERE ARE A LOT OF SENIORS THAT HAVE NOT TURNED IN YOUR PICTURES!!!

39% of Seniors have turned in both pictures.

6% of Seniors have turned in one picture.

55% of Seniors have not turned in either picture.

PHOTOS ARE DUE BEFORE WINTER BREAK!  If you do not turn in your choice of photo by the deadline, your Halversons’ school picture will be your senior picture in the yearbook.  Baby pictures are optional but must be turned in before winter break if you want one in the yearbook.

Reminder that the MHS Student Council is sponsoring a Holiday Food/Toiletry Drive through December 14th for the Monticello Food Pantry.

Derby is in the lead with 4.5 items per student

Ms. Manternach is in second place with 4.3 items per student.

Mr Kniess has dropped to 3rd place with 3.2 items per student

Mr. Gilkerson is in 4th place with 2.5 items per student

School total as of now is 495…we need 305 more to reach our goal

Students wanting to take any Kirkwood tests, Accuplacer or ALEKS, can do so Friday, December 14th from 8:00-11:00 here at the high school.  Sign up with Mrs. Stenger.

 

Kirkwood textbooks are due to JREC or the high school by Friday, December 14th.  Kirkwood will start assessing fines on student records December 19th for any books not returned or damaged.

 

The Selective Service System states that under current law all male US citizens between 18–25 years of age, born after January 1, 1960 are required to register with Selective Service within 30 days of their 18th birthday. In addition, non-US citizen men between the ages of 18 and 25 (inclusive) living in the United States must register.  A young man who fails to register with Selective Service may be ineligible for opportunities that may be important to his future such as federal student financial aid, state-funded student financial aid, most federal employment, some state employment, security clearance for contractors, job training under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (formerly known as the Workforce Investment Act), and U.S. citizenship for immigrant men.

Guidance News:

All Guidance Office announcements will be listed daily for about a week.  If you need to find a past announcement, search in your email for that week’s school announcement list.

 

All students, especially seniors and juniors should become familiar with the High School Counseling webpage on the District’s website.  Scholarships are being added to the National, State and Local Scholarship webpage and there are many scholarships on the site to look at which all will eventually be updated.  There are also links to other scholarship opportunities for all age groups, college rep visits, college visit days, military rep visits, and many other links to browse through.

 

Please take Workplace Learning Connection’s survey by December 21st.  The Workplace Learning Connection is interested to learn about the barriers to job shadows and internships.  Students who complete the survey can opt in to a drawing for some gift cards as our thank you!
