Attention Seniors regarding the Yearbook — Senior and baby pictures are due for yearbook BEFORE WINTER BREAK!  They cannot be accepted late!  Label them on the back and turn in at the office window or to Mrs. Woodhouse.  They could also be emailed as a jpg attachment to Mrs. Woodhouse. A list of those who have not turned one in is posted by the gym.

Seniors – Start checking the school’s website for scholarship information.  State and national scholarships are accepting applications and deadlines are coming up.  Watch for other state and local scholarships that will be added as they become available.  Check both the Local, State & National Scholarship page and the Scholarship Information link on the website.

Seniors – Please read your email from Mrs. Stenger about creating a Navigator account before next Tuesday.

The Sacred Heart Holiday Gala 2017 is Saturday, November 18th.  If you are interested in earning silver service hours volunteering at this event, you may pick up a form at the office drive-up window.  Contact information and details are on the form.

For the month of November, there will be a few male teachers growing out their facial hair in recognition of No Shave November and to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA).  There will be jars set up in the library with each teachers’ name on it.  If you would like to see any one of these teachers keep their beard growing for another month as their “punishment,” place money in the jar with their name on it.  At the end of November, we will tally up the money in each jar to see who has the most, and that teacher will keep growing their facial hair.  All of the money from the jars will be donated to the MDA.

Students are invited to the RISE Student Leadership Conference in Waukee this Saturday, November 4th.  See Mrs. Stenger for details.

The Better Business Bureau sponsors the Student of Integrity Scholarship each year.  If you are interested in running for the school’s nominee, please notify Mrs. Stenger by Friday, November 10th.

The annual blood drive is coming up soon!  It will be held in the high school gym on Tuesday, November 7th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.  You must be 16 years of age or older and weigh over 110 pounds to be a donor.  If you donate 8 times during high school, you receive a certificate and wear a red cord at graduation.  If you want to donate, you can sign up during lunch today and Monday. You can also sign up with any student in the Speech and Oral Communications class.  On the day of the blood drive, you must bring a photo ID and a signed parent consent form if you are 16 years old. Ages 17 and up do not need a signed consent form.  Please drink a lot of water the days before the blood drive so you are hydrated.

Did you know… If you began donating blood at age 17, and donated every 56 days until you reached age 76, you would have donated 48 gallons of blood, potentially helping save more than 1000 lives.
