  • Congratulations to the Boys golf team on finishing 4th at the Conference Meet. Team members were Justin Recker, Connor Lambert, Hunter Kramer, Bo Kramer, Tyler Blatner, and Daltyn Kramer.
  • Congratulations to the following boys golf conference awards: Elite All-Conference Team: Justin Recker, 1st Team All-Conference: Connor Lambert, Honorable Mention: Hunter Kramer.
  • Congratulations to the Boys golf team on capturing 1st place at the Sectional Tournament. Team members were Justin Recker, Connor Lambert, Hunter Kramer, Bo Kramer, Ty Kehoe, and Daltyn Kramer. Individual awards went to Justin Recker, Runner-up medalist and Bo Kramer, 4th place overall.
  • Congratulations to the students and staff at Monticello High School for being recognized as a Banner School for PBIS by the Department of Education. Thank you all for your daily efforts to provide a safe and positive environment for our students.
  • Congratulations to the following Boys State track participants: Avery Martensen – State Champion for 110 high hurdles and 19th place for 400 hurdles; Wade Picray – 10th place for discus; Gavin Cooper, Colin Jordan, Avery Martensen and Jasper Nietert – 22nd place for 1600 medley relay.
  • Congratulations to the following Girls State track participants: Karle Kramer -16th place in the 3000, Triniti Etzel 23rd place in the 3000; Payton Jaeger  – 11th place in the shot put; Leah Holub- 23rd place in the 100 Meter Dash; Gabby Guilford – 4th place in the high jump.
  • Congratulations to the Girls Golf Team on being regional champs and to Drucilla Kramer on advancing to State Golf!
  • Congratulations to Katie Stadtmueller on reaching 300 AR points!
  • Thank you to the Dubuque Racing Association (DRA) for your generous donations to the Monticello Community School District!!! The DRA awarded the following: Shannon Elementary – $1,750 for library books; Carpenter Elementary $2,100 for library books; Monticello Middle School – $2,000 for assistive technology; and Monticello High School – $3,670 for math department calculators.  Also, thank you to Gretchen Kriegel, for her hard work on making this happen!
  • Congratulations to Mr. Garringer and the Jazz Band for its sixth place finish at the Iowa Jazz Championships! This is the highest placing since 2001!  Also, Levi Temple was awarded an outstanding performer certificate.
  • All of our 7-8th grade band members performed a solo at Solo night on April 12 at the middle school. All of them did a great job but 4 received special recognition. Bella Mullen and Ian Temple were recognized as “Best of Center” with Alex Oswald and Madison Butterworth receiving Honorable Mention!   Congratulations!
  • Congratulations to Jeff Carlson and Robby Holmes who were selected for Individual All-State Speech. Jeff for Radio News and Robby for Solo Musical Theater.
  • Congratulations to 8th grader Rebecca Lang our Middle School GeographyBee She has qualified as one of the top 100 students in Iowa to go to the state geography bee competition March.
  • Congratulations to Justin Recker on being named 3rd team All State for boys’ basketball.Congratulations to the Middle School Jazz Band on earning a division 1 rating at the NE Iowa Jazz Band Festival!
  • Congratulations to the high school Individual Speech team, they came home with 29 one ratings and 4 two ratings from State Speech Contest at the North Scott High School.
  • Congratulations to our school counselors, Aimee Hospodarsky, Kathy Larson, and Carmen Stenger for being recognized as a District of Distinction from the Iowa School Counselor Association. We were one of four districts in Iowa to receive this recognition.  They will be announced during the ISCA’s annual conference in November.

  • The following students were accepted into the Marion Jr High Honor Band and performed on January 26: Leah Koehler, Mia Riches, Miranda Rieken, and Alex Oswald. Congratulations to them!
  • Congratulations to the following wrestlers on advancing to state: Chase Luensman, Kain Luensman and Lake Stahlberg and to Chase on placing 3rd at State!
  • Congratulations to 8th Grader Becky Lange on winning the middle school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee on February 1 and to Porter Campbell, a 5th grader, on winning second place.
  • Congratulations to following boys’ basketball players for their River Valley Conference Awards: Justin Recker – Elite All-Conference, Luke Lambert – North Division All-Conference, Connor Lambert – North Division All-Conference, Tyler Luensman – Honorable Mention All-Conference.
  • Congratulations to Tim Lambert on being named the River Valley Conference North Division Coach of the Year!
  • Congratulations to the following girls’ basketball players for their River Valley Conference Awards: Jordan Kuper – Elite All-Conference, Madison Fellinger -North Division All-Conference, and Sydney Hansen – Honorable Mention All-Conference.
  • Congratulations to Katie Stadtmueller from Mrs. Isaac’s Room on earning 200 AR points and is now on the AR Wall of Fame.  It takes a lot of dedication to earn 200 points!
  • Congratulations to Caleb Gillmore for being named to this year’s 1A Eastern District All District 2nd Team for bowling!

  • Congratulations to Chase Luensman who recorded his 150th career wrestling victory and Lake Stahlberg who picked up his 100th wrestling victory!
  • Congratulations to our 10 school finalists for the school-level competition of the National Geographic Bee: 5th grade: Porter Campbell and Ben Welter; 6th grade: River Smith and Carson Lambert; 7th grade: Alex Oswald, Preston Ries, and Sienna Hendricks; 8th grade: Lauren Koehler, Becky Lang, and Kale Hansen.
  • Congratulations to the Monticello Jazz Band on receiving a Division I rating at the IHSMA Jazz Fest on January 21, 2019.
  • In 2018 we saw the highest average ACT scores in ten years! Over 50% more students took the ACT in 2018 than the year before and the average composite score increased from 20.9 to 23.2. Great job Monticello students and staff!!!
  • Every 5th grade student made their first Accelerated Reader goal.  The 5th and 6th grade students have read a total of 1,841 books and 23,376,762 words so far this year! Way to go!
  • Congratulations to the Panther Dance Team on the following State Honors: Class 1 Contemporary- 2nd Place; Class 4 Jazz- 2nd Place; Class 8 Pom- 2nd Place; Team Academic Award; and the Community Service Award.
  • Congratulations to Sophia Ahlrichs, Clara Finger, Olivia Goodyear, and Levi Temple who all receive first chair on their instrument at the NEIBA Honor Band that took place on Saturday, December 1st! They represented Monticello well and had a fantastic concert!
  • Carpenter students collected 1,063 items for the Monticello Food Pantry! Congratulations on a job well done and thank you to all of our students and families for helping a great cause!
  • The High School Academic Awards Ceremony was held on October 17, 2018.  116 students in grades 10-12 earned an Academic Letter Award.  This an an award which recognizes outstanding scholastic achievement.  A student must earn at least a 3.3 grade point average for two consecutive semesters to qualify for the Academic Letter.  7 Students earned perfect attendance for the 2017 Fall Semester and 5 for the 2018 Spring Semester.  5 students earned perfect attendance for the 2017-18 school year. 108 students improved their grade point average from Fall 2017 to Spring 2018!
  • Congratulations to Sophia Ahlrichs, Clara Finger, Olivia Goodyear, and Levi Temple who were selected to participate in the NEIBA High School Honor Band!
  • Congratulations to the Panther Marching Band on receiving a Division II rating at the IHSMA state competition — only one point from a Division I rating! Great job!
  • Congratulations to the Panther Marching Band on placing 2nd in Class 2A and 2nd in Open Class at the Wilton Festival of Bands. They also received numerous outstanding certificates for Drum Major, Drum Line, Color Guard, Horn Line, Drill Design, and Soloist.  If you see a band student, tell them congrats on a successful season so far!
  • Congratulations to Panther Dancers who competed at Carver Hawkeye Arena on October 14, 2018: Kelsey Adams took home 2nd in the 9th Grade category; Sydney Freeze 5th in the 10th grade category; Emma Brighton 10th and Anisa Krouse 5th in the 11th grade category.
  • Congratulations to Destiny Wall on being selected to participate in the 5th & 6th grade Opus Honor Choir.
  • Congratulations to the River Valley Honor Choir on a great performance! Students represented our district responsibly, respectfully, caring and safely.
  • Cindy Savage on winning $500 and 500 bonus points to use for books from the James Patterson and the Scholastic Book Clubs Giveaway!
  • Cindy Savage and the 3rd Grade Team on receiving the Silos & Smokestacks National Heritage Area Bus Grant Award of $350 for a field trip to the University of Iowa Museum of Natural History!
  • 8th grader Lauren Koehler for being selected to attend the Young Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA) training at Grinnell College which was funded by the Monticello Rotary Club!
